Divine Guidance: How to work with your own spirit guides and follow the signs
When I was ten years old, I remember sitting in the passengers seat of my dad’s Lincoln Navigator, I am really not sure where we were going but I remember my dad driving and talking about how he was going to be out of town for work the next week and I would be staying at my moms house.
“Where are you going?” I asked
“Colorado” He replied
“The only cold place I could live in and be happy is Colorado”
“How do you know that? You’ve never even been there.”
“I just know” I said, never so sure of anything in my life.
Well if you have read my previous blog this was my claircognizance gift at work. And for those of you who have not read my previous blog I have a very strong claircognizance which just means I have these moments of clear and unquestionable knowing.
Fast forward 23 years. I had just moved to Boston for a promotion at work. I was excited for my new surroundings and a chance to start over somewhere new. I was most excited to check out Salem Massachusetts…for obvious reasons (hello witches hell to the yeah) Anyway, it was a dream of mine to explore that city and one beautiful September day that dream became a reality.
As I walked down the Main Street in Salem I saw a sign for tarot readings. I thought to myself “how can I not get a psychic reading when in Salem?’ So I walked into the little shop and got a reading.
A lot of things were said in that reading but I distinctly remember her saying she saw me transferring to either Austin Texas or Colorado within a year. I thought that was interesting but I just moved to Boston and didn’t see myself leaving anytime soon.
The seasons came and went and a whole year passed since that reading in Salem.
At that point I was very unhappy in Boston. The weather is brutal and it was very expensive to live there. I hadn’t made many friends and the dating scene seemed impossible there.
So I started thinking about the next steps in my career and where I wanted to go next when I had a random thought about the reading I had a year earlier…”that psychic said I would be transferring to Austin or Colorado.”I thought that this was a funny coincidence but at this point in my spiritual journey I knew that it was a sign.
Three days after I had this random thought I received an email alert with two job openings at work. One position in Austin Texas and another in Denver Colorado.
I laughed and said “Okay spirit, you got my attention. Now which one should I apply for? Send me a sign”
Disclaimer- every time I ask my guides, or spirit, or the universe for guidance (btw it doesn’t matter what you call it, god, Paul, creative intelligence) I always ask for signs in threes before I make a move. And my spirit guides did not disappoint in this situation.
Sign #1- Later that day I was walking Ollie when I noticed a black truck parked outside my apartment. I forget what the brand was and I am not a huge fan of cars so I rarely pay attention to them but this model was a “Colorado”. “Okay this is an okay sign, but I am going to need 2 more.” I thought
Sign #2- I continued walking Ollie after seeing the truck when I saw a man in a Denver’s Bronco jersey at Papa John’s. Now I know this may sound like nothing special but its very rare to see a Broncos fan in that area. It’s the Patriots or any north east football team. “Wow your good spirit but you’re going to have to do better than that.” I joked
Sign #3- Later that evening, I went down to the laundry room in my apartment building, and for those of you who are not familiar with Boston, almost no apartments have in until laundry meaning its shared amongst the building or you have to go to a laundromat. Anyway, I was switching my laundry over to the dryer when a quarter flew out of my clothes. I looked at it to see if it was still usable after being run through the washer and low and behold IT WAS A COLORADO COIN!
“Okay spirit, I heard you loud and clear, Colorado it is!” The next day I reached out to the hiring manager, really liked the job and his energy and decided to apply.
For those of you on the edge of your seat here, I did get the job and when the hiring manager asked me where I wanted to move within the territory I asked my guides …”Okay guys, you tell me, Denver or Colorado Springs?”
